The famous resort town of Virginia Beach is situated perfectly in southeast Virginia on the Atlantic Coast of the USA.

On my recent family holiday there, the beautiful beaches, vibrant waterfront boardwalk, variety of seafood, shopping malls, as well as a wide variety of outdoor activities made my trip truly unforgettable.

Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel: An Engineering Wonder

As I flew into Virginia Beach, I looked down from the plane, and the first thing I noticed was the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel. This iconic entry point to Virginia Beach is the world's longest bridge-tunnel complex with a total length of 37 kilometers. It connects the Delmarva Peninsula with mainland Virginia and Virginia Beach. The bridge, opened in 1964, has been called one of the "the seven engineering wonders of the modern world."

Vibrant Waterfront Boardwalk

From the moment I stepped off the plane, I was refreshed by the warm sea air of Virginia Beach. The seaside boardwalk is a must-see for most tourists. Just steps from the beach, you can enjoy a variety of fresh, delicious seafood as well as unique shops. My personal favorite was enjoying a delicious dinner while gazing at the beautiful sea and sky. I wanted to stay in that moment forever. Near the waterfront boardwalk, there are many luxury oceanfront hotels to choose from; many of them are new.

Sailing from Rudee Inlet Station

Not far away from the Virginia Beach Boardwalk, we were excited to try out our sea legs at Rudee Inlet Station. We chartered a fishing boat and got to know two humorous local fishermen. They took us along the golden Virginia Beach coastline, where we enjoyed the sea breeze and saw dolphins playing in the water. It was almost as if they were welcoming us. Not far from here, you’ll find the Naval Air Station Oceana, which is the Navy’s East Coast Master Jet Base.

Lovely Lynnhaven Mall

No matter where I visit, shopping is always one of the highlights of my trip. Lynnhaven Mall has more than 180 shops and six major department stores. I was attracted to it for its assortment of merchandise for both me and my family members and friends back home. Not to mention, international high-end designer clothing and cosmetics can be found here at a fair price, and the sales people are extremely helpful and accommodating.

When it was time to leave Virginia Beach, I wished I could stay a little longer. The sun, the beach, the food and all the tourist attractions made me fall in love with this wonderful coastal city. I can’t wait to come back and enjoy life at Virginia Beach.
